Revolver Magazine brought its third annual Golden God Award ceremony to an extremely sold-out Club Nokia this week, in a black-tie free affair that paid tribute to multiple generations of metal musicians, including the latest one.

Alice Cooper's Theatre of Death
Last Thursday Alice Cooper revived last year's Theatre of Death Show at the Gibson Ampitheater as part of The Gruesome Twosome Return. Usually you want to see a band at the end of a tour when they are really tight. But this band is practiced and on the mark all the way. Solos were so intense it seemed like they were doing demos at NAMM. The only glitch was the one guitar player who kept bumping into the giant letter "A".
Alice Cooper, Ace Frehley @ Nokia Theater 10/28/09
Forty horrifying years into his career, Alice Cooper is still sacrificing himself to audiences on a nightly basis. Not content to give his life for show business just once, in his current Theater Of Death tour, which stopped at the Nokia Theater, he endures a beheading, a hanging, and a blood-spewing run-through with a dozen swords. If it gets a raised fist and a “woo!”, he will spare himself from nothing.
Alice Cooper is Godhead!
Last night Alice Cooper drove the Nokia crowd into a hysterical heavy metal sing-along on his Theatre of Death tour. It is just impossible not to sing along with "I'm Eighteen". But besides his musical ouvre, there are a few things that set Alice Cooper apart and give him such a rabid following.
First and foremost, Alice is a showman. I mean besides being a singer. He gets decapitated, dragged all over the stage and abused by psycho Nurse Rosetta, impaled by a 6-foot long hypodermic, and hanged (a stunt that proved nearly fatal in England in the 80s).

I Met Alice Cooper! Plus There was Some NME Awards Thing Too
Last night the El Rey Theater was host to British music magazine NME's first US awards. You can find the list of award winners at Twisted Ear, since it seems like the sudden attention has crashed NME's website. For a recap of the awards show, check out MOG.
Another Look at This Year's Best Super Bowl Ads
How 'bout the end of that Super Bowl? Good thing Eli Manning came through because the ads really weren't all that, save for the near death of Richard Simmons (with Alice Cooper behind the wheel). But at $2.7 million per 30 seconds, who are we to not expect more?
The Misfits and Dr Know @ HOB 11/13/07
As a teenager, the Misfits kind of passed me by. They were an East coast band, and I was listening to local SST bands and 70s glammy-junkie punk bands. Like ANGELIC UPSTARTS, it seemed like MISFITS was just another band to paint on your leather jacket. A few years ago I got turned on to their box set, and I felt like I had really missed out. This Ramones - meets - Sabbath -...

Storefront Art: Driving Back Into Town Edition
We're thankful for so many things. Really. The only thing we had cause for regret rather than thanks this weekend was the fact that we missed seeing Alice Cooper run into our neighborhood grocery store for some spare cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving Day. Man, that would have been so cool.
