Alec Baldwin Is A Star. Alec Baldwin Gets A Star.

Alec Baldwin, the poly award winning actor of Jack Donaghy, Jack Ryan, Adam Maitland, and Mick Dugan fame who also rivals Steve Martin for the honor of most-times-hosting SNL and owns The Royal Tenenbaums as the velvet-voiced narrator in Wes Anderson's idiosyncrasterpiece, was the proud recipient on Monday of the newest star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. TV Junkie: Networks Clean House; Baldwin Hosts 'SNL'

Last night we observed an interesting phenomena as Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) learned of tweets by "Entertainment Weekly" columnist Michael Ausiello (@MichaelAusiello) announcing the cancellation of her show "Romantically Challenged" (@RomChallenged). Officially, ABC has said nothing (as of 11am Pacific today) about canceling "Romantically Challenged" - it would be interesting to know who Ausiello talked to at ABC if the star of the show doesn't know her fate. more ›

Box Office Review: Avatar, Take Two!

For the second week in a row, Avatar blew away the competition to easily capture the box-office crown ($75M | $212.2M). It's presumed challenger, Sherlock Holmes was a distant second ($65.3M) while Dumb Fucking Chipmunk Movie made an obscene amount of money ($50.2M) (presumably, from moronic families trying to keep their bratty kids quiet for a few hours). Adult "comedy" (e.g. not funny) It's Complicated had a decent weekend ($22.1M) while the superb Up in the Air surged in its first weekend of wide release ($11.7M | $24.5M). more ›

Weekend Movie Guide: Parnassus Before Holmes

In a just world families would be heading out to the multiplex this afternoon to see Terry Gilliam's latest (and Heath Ledger's last) The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Of course, we don't live in such a world so Sherlock Holmes will be getting all of the business. If you want to try something thought-provoking and serious (yeah, I know you don't), check out Police, Adjective. I respect everything about Nancy Meyers other than the actual movies she makes. Her latest is It's Complicated. I will, of course, pass. Apparently, there is some kiddie flick opening today called Dumb Fucking Chipmunks Movie. Probably gonna miss that one, too. more ›

Box Office Review: Miley more popular than Jesus!

Box Office Review: Miley more popular than Jesus!

Millions of Americans ignored Christ this weekend in order to fill the already overstuffed pockets of the vaguely satanic and horribly buck-toothed Miley Cyrus. Hannah Montana: The Movie picked up a cool $34M to rule the box-office roost, eclipsing last week's winner Fast and Furious ($28.7M/$118M). Monsters vs. Aliens enjoyed a strong third weekend ($22.6M/$141M) to crush disappointing newcomer Observe and Report ($11.1M). The horrible Knowing rounded out the top 5 with a richly undeserved take of $6.6M ($68M). more ›

TV Junkie: Baldwin on TCM; 'Breaking Bad' Returns! 'Ashes to Ashes' Debuts

Sunday @ 10pm features the return of AMC's incredible series, "Breaking Bad", with Bryan Cranston (pictured, right) as Walt White, the terminally-ill high school science teacher-turned meth cooker. We've been eagerly waiting for this show to resume and AMC has done a great job whetting our appetite with their sneak webisodes and other promos. Since the other stuff we like to watch on Sunday's @ 10pm are available on-demand, this is one of our prime picks of the weekend. more ›

Today's Wall Street Journal reports that '24' co-creator Joel Surnow is bailing from the show and the Fox network. Surnow is the "right-wing nutjob" who is a personal friend of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and President Bush - he's the one that had the brilliant idea to come up with a right wing "answer" to 'The Daily Show' for Fox, but the failure to produce one is evidence he never understood the question. more ›

Alec Baldwin's "Coffee is for Closers" Speech

While we would never comment on a stranger's parenting techniques, we, along with many, bristled at hearing Alec Baldwin call his young daughter a pig in this day and age of girls and women obsessing over their bodies, etc., sometimes to fatal conclusions. And even though most of the tirade was a victim rant about how she had injured him somehow by not being available to take his phone call, we do applaud him... more ›

Movie News Roundup: Buffy Becomes Anna Nicole, Baldwin Goes Ballistic, Hollywood Wastes $$

Movie News Roundup: Buffy Becomes Anna Nicole, Baldwin Goes Ballistic, Hollywood Wastes $$

Law & Order: Criminal Intent offers what will no doubt be a sensitive meditation on the perils of fame in a May episode that closely parallels the Anna Nicole Smith saga. Original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson, in her puffy, post-pregnancy state (that's the kind of glow you can only get from stealing another woman's husband and having his baby) will play the ersatz Anna Nicole and… (wait for it)… David Cross will play her scummy Howard Stern-esque manager. Set your TiVo to stun. -FOX

Alec Baldwin goes ballistic on his daughter's voicemail. Someone (ex-wife Kim Basinger?) leaks the tape. The tabs are there to pick up the pieces. -TMZ

Screenwriter-turned-director Frank Darabont, who's made a cottage industry of churning out sappy, sentimental life-affirming dramas based on Stephen King stories, is pissed. He spent a year slaving away with Steven Spielberg on a script for the fourth Indiana Jones film only to have George Lucas nix it. Remember the lovable Jar Jar Binks and his nuanced, heartfelt dialogue? Imagine what like Lucas will do with Indy. -MTV News

The LA Times offers a window into the phenomenally wasteful world of formulaic, big-budget action movies. Author Clive Cussler for some reason expected his top-selling action-adventure novel Sahara to be an equally successful movie. Instead it flopped to the tune of $105 million. That's what happens when you pay Matthew McConaughey's abs $8 million to star in a movie. Cussler sued production company Crusader Entertainment and the case is now in court, which is why the whole world knows exactly how much McConaughey's personal chef made ($48,893) and Cruz's hairstylist raked in ($135,550). -LA Times
