Cause if it's pretty fast, you still have time to get your mo on for Movember. Mo is Australian for moustache, and Movember is an organization that raises awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer. Much like the Avon 3-day walk or the AIDS Walk, men build teams and throughout the month of November, vigorously sit, wait, and grow, all while collecting money towards cancer research.

The 25th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles gets underway officially at 10 o'clock this morning, but streets in West Hollywood are already closed to drivers and will remain so for a large portion of the day. If your travels today are in the vicinity, plan some alternate routes. Here's the route map to show you where to go to cheer on the walkers--or what part of town to avoid today.

Kauzbots: Robots Raise Money for Worthy Causes

Last month at Unique LA, we met David Trotter from Kauzbots. These fabric robots are 18 inches tall, super cute, and raise money for organizations around the world. We took home Kalvin the leader of the "Kauzbot Krew". Buying Kalvin meant that 10% of the purchase price went to Hearts of Gold an organization with a mission to enhance the lives of New York City's homeless mothers and children.

       

More than 30,000 walkers and volunteers hit the streets yesterday morning to raise more than $3.1 million for AIDS Project Los Angeles, who said the numbers "set attendance records and defied fundraising expectations in the midst of a troubled economy." Since 1985, the organization has raised more than $63 million for HIV programs and services throughout the county.
