He's a hustler, baby. And he just wants you to know - his empire is brimming with condoms. Larry Flynt, porn mogul and publisher of Hustler Magazine, and Hustler Hollywood have donated 50,000 condoms to AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

LA Marathon
We just walked out and cheered the LA Marathon runners along mile 21 down Third Street. People lined the sidewalks, some of them, it's true, lounging in chairs with picnic feasts, but also holding up their babies (or parrots -- there were several of each) to see the runners, or lifting up signs with messages like "Go Sergio" or "Run Auntie Liz Run." Some of the spectators clearly lived in the houses and apartments along the route and had camped out on the sidewalk for the morning for the event. Others seemed to be driving from place to place, following friends, and indeed we observed several runners jogging along with cell phones to their ears, telling their friends their locations. Many runners wore AIDS Project Los Angeles jerseys. It's always nice to see people cheering for each other, especially down a route where honking is more the norm.
APLA Pizza Week
Speaking of CPK, California Pizza Kitchen opened a brand new location at Sunset and Crescent Heights late last month. After a week or so to work out the kinks and get into a groove, the grand opening activities start this week. The major part of this is that 100% of sales in the Sunset Blvd. CPK this week will be donated to AIDS Project Los Angeles.
Super HIV in the Southland?
A man in San Diego has what appears to be the same strain of "Super HIV" that a man in New York City was diagnosed with last week. Gothamist has the details on the New York case while Slate's Explainer goes into all the different strains of HIV there are out there.
