Brush Fires Break Out in Agua Dulce, Lancaster

At least two brush fires are burning in northern Los Angeles County this afternoon. In Agua Dulce, near Acton, a blaze that broke out around 2 p.m. has burned through some 25 to 30 acres, according to KCAL-TV. At first it burned through grassy fields, but recently went into thicker brush, prompting 15- to 20-foot flame lengths. Two abandoned structures have burned, but no homes are currently threatened, reported the news broadcast. 200 firefighters are on scene. There is another fire burning near Lancaster in Fairmont. Speaking a press conference at 5 p.m. tonight, officials described the Station Fire as "erratic." "This is a very angry fire that we're fighting right now," a spokesman said. "Until we get a change in weather conditions, I'm not overly optimistic, yet at the same time, our firefighters will be taking every action they can in order to keep this fire from burning more structures... Fire Blazes in Goleta

A wildfire erupted last night in Goleta, eight miles Northwest of Santa Barbara. It began in the Los Padres National Forest forcing mandatory evacuations of about 40 homes. Yesterday, a small fire was knocked down in the Canyon Country neighborhood of Santa Clarita and nearby in Agua Dulce, a truck caught fire on the Northbound 14 Freeway, but was quickly doused before it could spread to surrounding brush. more ›
