Man Sings 'God Bless America' After Being Rescued from Pyramid Lake
On a boat was not a good place to be yesterday, as two men traversing the Pyramid Lake in the Angeles National Forest quickly discovered. According to a statement released by the LA Sheriff's Department, the men, a 60-year-old former opera singer and a 29-year-old, both residents of Agoura Hills, were out in a Pond Prowler, a small two-seater that's designed to maneuver hard-to-reach areas of lakes and ponds.
Thousand Oaks Football Player Found Dead, Possible Victim of Alcohol Poisoning
Griffen Kramer, a backup quarterback for Thousand Oaks High School and son of former NFL quarterback Erik Kramer, was found dead on Sunday morning in Agoura Hills. Sheriff authorities and the coroner’s office have announced an emergency press conference this morning about Mitrice Richardson, the woman who has been missing for about a year after being released from the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station in Agoura Hills. Although there will be no on-the-record comment until the 9:30 a.m. event, remains found earlier this week in a steep canyon have been confirmed as Richardson's, according to various news sources. Park rangers found her while checking for marijuana plants in a former grow field.
Will the Fire Spread to the Pacific Ocean? It Could.
Fire Chief, Michael Freeman reportedly told City News Service that there "is a real possibility" the fire could make a run down toward the Pacific Coast with the wind conditions, which are expected to pick up again tonight. At a 4:30 p.m. press conference, LA County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky said that the fire "can go from [the Valley] to the ocean in a matter of two to three hours... now is the time to get prepared and be alert." Communities threatened by the current movement of the fire could be Hidden Hills, Bell Canyon, Calabasas and Agoura Hills.
Agoura Hills Fire Knocked Down, Arson Suspected
The Agoura Hills brush fire, now known as the "Lost Fire," grew to 75 acres before firefighters knocked it down at 4:30 p.m., according to Brendon Peart, Supervising Fire Dispatcher for LA County Fire. No people or structures were damaged and all evacuations were voluntary.
Brush Fire Breaks Out in Agoura Hills
A light grass brush fire that broke out around noon today has burned approximately 30 acres and is threatening homes in an Agoura Hills subdivision, but as of 1:45 p.m., all evacuations were mandatory. 225 to 250 firefighters were on scene. The LA County Fire Department told LAist over the phone that it is burning south of the 101 Freeway where it began near Las Virgenes and Lost Hills roads.
