The West Hollywood Book Fair, now in it's sixth year, will take over West Hollywood Park this Sunday from 10am - 6pm. We like to think of the WeHo book fair as the calmer, cooler cousin to the LA Times Festival of Books - great authors, excellent panels, live readings and good food - but much easier to navigate. As with any festival, planning the who/what/when is key...especially when trying to pack it all into......

Hey you behind the Self Help stack! Take your hair out of that bun, whip those reading glasses off -- someone's looking for you. Former LAist editor Adrienne Crew, the LA Brain Terrain blogger and blog book author, announced yesterday that she will find the hottest bookstore employee in town. Will it be you, Book Soup guy? How about you Dutton's babe? Countless good-looking actors and models populate the service industries of Los Angeles.......

It's serious, but it looks like he'll be OK. author! author! When we're not living on the internet LAist contributors love to read. We love fiction, we love comics, we love short stories, we even love books about the internet. Kevin, Carolyn and Adrienne want to share our favorites of '05. But first, two LAist contributors actually wrote books this year: Adrienne Crew co-authored Blogosphere: Best of the Blogs and Jen Sincero penned The Straight Girls' Guide to Sleeping With Chicks. Huzzah! Our book favorites......

It's rivalry week and a cursory view of our blogroll shows the Trojan/Bruin war rages on. Boi From Troy is, obviously, almost all USC all the time this week while Loteria Chicana and Ultratart both wax nostalgic with dreams of past glory. Caroline on Crack wants you to visit Hunky Santa at the Beverly Center. Hunky Santa? What, no Hot Hannukah Harriett dancing the horah for the lovers of ladies? Was that enough alliteration......

The Times takes a look at the counter-culture to cool today and who did they turn to for a little non-trendy perspective? One of LAist's own, Adrienne Crew. We won't make fun of Adrienne for calling us "youngsters" and instead we'll try to figure out how Christian Chensvold knew about our growing interest in lawn bowling and our intense attraction to chicks who knit. And, if you didn't know, Adrienne not only showcases her......

Mark Teitelman joins LAist as a new contributor. Mark, or T-Man, is a producer and director for ABC's "Monday Night Football." But what he really wants to be is a shepherd. LAist is always seeking new contributors. If you'd like to join our team, send a note to Adrienne Crew at LAbrainterrain@hotmail.com with links to your own blog or a sample LAist entry.......

You've probably already noticed that we've got a couple of new contributors here at LAist. So without further ado... Born and raised in Pasadena, Adrienne Crew returned to Los Angeles this year after living 13 years in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Her work has appeared in Salon.com and the San Francisco Chronicle. She is working on her first novel about LA-based African American geeks and punks in the early '80s. Jessica Ritz was bred—but......

Ed. Note: Adrienne Crew is a new LAist contributor. This weekend LAist visited the California Gift Show at the LA Convention Center. Sunday's show was pretty well attended. We look forward to attending the Gift Show every year in the way we used to anticipate visiting the County Fair. There are favorite booths to revisit, but it's best to wander the different halls in wonder of all the crap coming to a gift store or......
