Tonight In Rock: Adele, Phoenix, Cursive, Local Natives

Tonight London-based neo-soul singer Adele will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl with LAist favorite Janelle Monae. Omaha-based indie rockers Cursive are poised to grace the Henry Fonda Music Box with Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band in tow. And, lastly, early on in the day Silver Lake-based indie rock outfit Local Natives (LAist Interview) will be playing at the Echo with Saint Motel (LAist Interview) for this month's edition of Kidrockers. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Wiltern to catch French alternative rockers Phoenix. LAist favorites Amazing Baby are slated to kick things off.

LAist Live! at the Grammys

While you are waiting for the tape-delayed West Coast television feed of the Grammys, LAist will be covering the awards show as it unfolds live at LA Live! We're adding YouTube video of the performances as they come in (and as long as they're up) below. So far the biggest bombshell is that Radiohead will be doing a surprise performance of "15 Step" about halfway through the show. They will be introduced by Gwyneth Paltrow and accompanied by the USC marching band. [Skip to the bottom of the article for the complete schedule of performers, in order.]

Tonight In Rock: Adele, Jon Brion, Franz Ferdinand, Theresa Andersson

Tonight Grammy-nominated English soul singer Adele will be headlining a sold-out show at the Wiltern. Glasgow's own indie rockers Franz Ferdinand are slated to perform at Amoeba Records early on in the evening. LA-based singer-songwriter Eleni Mandell will be gracing the stage at the Hotel Café with the equally buzzworthy "one-woman band" Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview, Review). And, lastly, English rapper Lady Sovereign is set to flow at the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Largo at the Coronet to catch producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Review).

Last Thursday, British soul singer Alice Russell MySpace) returned to the Hotel Cafe (MySpace) in Hollywood, headlining an evening that was supported by locals Emi Meyer (MySpace), Lelia Broussard (MySpace), and followed by Jesca Hoop (MySpace). The show was LAist's pick for Tonight in Rock, and included covers of "Seven Nation Army" and "Crazy".

Tonight we suggest you take a walk on the wild side. Start things off at Amoeba Records, where LA locals Abe Vigoda will be performing songs from 2008's Skeleton. The band's third album to date is an eye-opening, punk-infused tour de force. Then we recommend heading over to the Knitting Factory for what will undoubtedly be referred to as the noisiest lineup to come through town in some time. NY-based Ghengis Tron, Florida-based Yip Tip, LA's own Clipd Beaks and, of course, hometown noise heroes HEALTH are slated to take turns raping and pillaging your eardrums without restraint.

Adele played a sold out show at The Roxy last Wednesday, and if it had been anywhere else, it probably would've been a fantastic night. Don't get me wrong, it was a great show, but my ticket and that of the girl next to me in line said doors were at 8pm, and we stood outside in the wind in a massive line until 9:30. Then we were finally let in, only to have the band not come on until almost 10, which I had decided was my cut-off point for walking out, (as I stood there with my $10 crappy Tanqueray and tonic that tasted suspiciously like house gin), if nothing had happened by then!
