Check It Out: Eastbound & Down TONIGHT on HBO

Let’s assume you’re a reasonably intelligent person who also has HBO. It would be easy to assume, then (since you are reasonably intelligent) that at 10 o’clock tonight you will be watching Flight of the Conchords on your HBO-enabled viewing box of choice. Again, seems reasonable enough.

Tonight at 6pm, Adam McKay will talk to Larry King about the new Funny or Die video featuring Paris Hilton. In the 24 hours since the Paris for President video premiered, it has been viewed more than 4 million times. Tonight on Larry King Live we can find out how it all went down. These days in Hollywood, ''low budget" films usually end up costing more than the runway rentals to land Steven Spielberg's ego. That's why it's so exciting to see truly low-budget films actually get made without all of the self-examination and scrutiny that comes with the ability to shoot more than one take. And it's even more fulfilling to have someone else notice.

One of the great things about living in Los Angeles is that there are countless opportunities to see movies in advance for free. Spend any afternoon at the Burbank Town Center or the Third Street Promenade and you'll see people hanging around movie theaters with clipboards and flyers for upcoming screenings. Next week, as part of MTV's Sneak Peak Week, five of the summer's biggest comedies will be screening around town. All you have to do is show up early (real early!) with a ticket and get in line. Will Ferrell's departure from Saturday Night Live has been a little painful. That's why it's a delight to see him reprising his famed role as President George W. Bush in "White House West," a new meta-spot that features Ferrell/Bush attempting to film a campaign ad. It was paid for by America Coming Together, a Democratic fund that deals with the media and Get-Out-The-Vote operations.
