Hands and The Goldberg Sisters Take Over the Bootleg Theater Tonight

Adam Goldberg is best known as an actor in the war epic Saving Private Ryan--or, going back a bit farther, for his role as a bumbling yet endearing nerd in Dazed and Confused. Goldberg is a self-proclaimed man of all trades, including a purveyor of fine meats, and most recently embarked on the musical venture The Goldberg Sisters. The band appears tonight at the Bootleg Theater as part of a musical lineup that dares you to “put your money where you mouth is.” more ›

Win Tix to Tonight's (Untitled) Screening with Adam Goldberg & Marley Shelton

After we poked fun at Adam Goldberg's video about Los Angeles, he wanted to prove his new movie's worth and give away a pair of tickets to tonight's 8 p.m. screening at The Landmark on Pico Boulevard. Goldberg, who stars in the film, and his co-star, Marley Shelton, will be there in person for a Q&A afterwards. Here's a little about the movie, titled (Untitled). more ›

About that Boring Adam Goldberg Hating on L.A. Movie

Have you seen this yet? If not, don't worry. But just in case you need to hear Adam Goldberg explain how restaurants in Silver Lake suck (dude, we dig Edendale Grill's Secret 3-Cheese Delight, savvy?) and how Franklin Avenue is difficult to cross, here you go. Thankfully, Goldberg admits his bitching consists of "bourgeois problems" and that this is all in good fun. The vid is in promotion of his NYC-based flick called (untitled). more ›

TV Junkie: Thursday

TV Junkie: Thursday

Today's Wall Street Journal reports that '24' co-creator Joel Surnow is bailing from the show and the Fox network. Surnow is the "right-wing nutjob" who is a personal friend of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and President Bush - he's the one that had the brilliant idea to come up with a right wing "answer" to 'The Daily Show' for Fox, but the failure to produce one is evidence he never understood the question. more ›

LA Film Fest: Day 8

LA Film Fest: Day 8

Though Westwood is now a smoking ruin, I am happy to announce that Optimus Prime and his heroic Autobots have defeated Megatron and his dastardly Decepticons. For those of you now whining "spoiler!"--come on. Does anyone really not know how Transformers is going to end? Don't worry. They left plenty of room for sequels. I just want to take this time to personally thank the programmers of the LA Film Festival for finding a space for this little gem in their schedule. But back to the festival proper. more ›

Let’s Independent - Indie Rock Gets Regular

Joe Fielder's Radio Free Silverlake, with support from KXLU and Sea Level Records, has been presenting a monthly, indie music night called Let's Independent at the lovely and historic Boardner’s in Hollywood. Last Tuesday’s unwashed-hair trifecta included local acts, Tigers Can Bite You, The Black Pine and Let’s Go Sailing. TCBY (heh) went on first and went on loud, but did not actually come to life until halfway through the set when they energized... more ›
