Saturday's Galaxy match versus New York Red Bulls was the beginning of what will arguably be the toughest part of their schedule this season. The blue-and-gold have embarked on their longest road trip of the year and will not play in the friendly confines of the Home Depot Center until August 21 when the Chicago Fire pay a visit. The timing could not be any worse for the Galaxy. Notoriously bad on the road, the team has also failed to win in over a month and slipped to second place in the conference standings with 2 conference rivals nipping at their heels. LA Galaxy tie Houston Dynamo 2-2. This is the first professional soccer match I have attended, and it was a ton of fun. Landon Donavan made a spectacular diving header goal in the 67th minute off of a David Beckham pass that gave me the chills. But blah blah blah. The story of the night was meeting my new boyfriend Abel Xavier (pictured left). He is a defenseman born in Mozambique and has played for the Portugal national team.
