3rd CHP Officer Dies in a Month's Time

A 28-year-old California Highway Patrol Officer died this weekend on the 15 Freeway in the Barstow area. Officer Justin McGrory (pictured right) and his partner were conducting a traffic stop when a red 2009 Pontiac G6 rammed into McGrory, according to the San Bernardino Sun. Police do not believe alcohol was involved, but the 18-year-old driver who stopped at the scene was arrested for vehicular manslaughter. more ›

10 and 15 Freeways Make Top 10 List of Deadliest in U.S.

With the Summer driving season upon us, The Daily Beast has released a list of the 100 deadliest freeways in the country. And the two mentioned from Southern California made the top 10 with the 15 and the 10 freeways coming in at 4 and 5, respectively. Between 2004-2008, there were 506 fatalities on the 15's 287.26 miles -- that's 1.52 fatal crashes per mile. On the 10's 242.54 in-state miles, there were 387 deaths, averaging 1.41 per mile. more ›

Traveling to Vegas? I-15 to Close for Rock Blasting

Take note Vegas travelers, Caltrans says leave early or stay late if you're traveling from the sin city back to Southern California this week. Southbound Interstate 15 will be shut down from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday to conduct blasting and rock removal along the artery. Northbound delays should be minimal, Caltrans says, but for those heading south, travelers who did not exit before Primm, NV at the state line will be directed off the freeway to the Primm Valley resort area where they'll be able to park until the freeway re-opens.
