Drivers, take note of this important closure that could affect your drive around Los Angeles International Airport: "CalTrans Traffic Management has notified LAX operations that the eastbound I-105 on-ramp from southbound Sepulveda Blvd. will be closed all weekend due to the possibility of intermittent rain. This may delay motorists exiting the LAX Central Terminal Area." They say Angelenos don't know how to drive in the rain, so is just not letting them drive in certain places the solution?

The eastbound 105 freeway was shut down in the Willowbrook area after a dead body was found a little before 5:30 a.m. near the Wilmington Avenue Exit. Initial reports said that all lanes would reopen by 9:30, but as of 9:05 a.m., SigAlert indicated traffic as a-okay, save for the 110/105 connector.

In all, eight people died and as many as 28 people injured on Los Angeles roads Memorial Day, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Two incidents occurred in the Hollywood area and two others in South Los Angeles.

       

On air news reports are saying that one whole city block is basically destroyed in a fire that started in the Hyde Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon near the major intersection at Western and Slauson, more specifically at the industrial block of Gage and Gramercy. As of 4:30 p.m., fire officials said that it appears that the fire was contained and under control. Seven business occupancies were involved in the fire, but to what extent they were damage is unknown at this point, according to d'Lisa Davies, LAFD spokesperson.

A strong fire is rocking through a one-story commercial warehouse that manufactures and stores wooden palettes in an industrial part of the Hyde Park neighborhood in South LA at 6236 Gramercy Place (map below). The wooden palettes are fueling the fire so much, it is being described as a huge bonfire.
