Posted Restless Farewell? to LAist
I've been offered an opportunity to work in the political realm that will prohibit me from blogging for awhile. I'm gonna take it - and thus I'm going to have to step down as editor of LAist for the forseeable future. It's been great working with Marleigh, Phil, Adrienne (who will be taking over as a co-editor), and Jessica on starting this blog. I also want to thank everyone who has supported the site with...
Posted Loose Ends to LAist
Forget tonight's celebratory chat between Leno and Schwarzenegger. On Monday, President Bill Clinton will visit the Daily Show to rap with John Stewart about his book and the election. The bad news here is that his appearance with Stewart seems to be a replacement for his rumored-but-quashed potential guest spot on Saturday Night Live. Too bad - it would have brilliant to see him in a debate with some satirized version of a Republican luminary....

Chick led recent efforts to investigate accusations of "pay-to-play" government in the Hahn administration. She was a member of the City Council before she became Controller. BoiFromTroy,...
Posted And We're Off! to LAist
The worst kept secret in L.A. is out - Antonio Villaraigosa is running for mayor again. The Times has the scoop. Villaraigosa says that as mayor, his top priorities would be halting gang crime, the economy, and "build[ing] trust in city government." It will be interesting to see if he can credibly act upon the last of these ideas, as cynicism towards government seems to be ascendant in most of American politics. We have to...
