Studio City Farmers' Market

Walking towards the Studio City Farmers' Market this morning, we heard people saying how ridiculous it was that options were slim due to this week's weather. All in all, we didn't find it that bad. Everything seemed to be in place, but Thai Basil was nowhere to be found.

Off to Thai Town we go!

Dating. The thought sends a shudder through many an LAist reader. Some of us are out of the dating game (thank goodness) and want to offer our sympathy for those having to deal with some of Match's and MySpace's, umm, interesting but eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.

Overhead during a lunch rush earlier this week at the Metropolitan Water District cafeteria downtown--a great place to eat on the cheap in the Union Station area, by the way--LAist overheard this lament from a single woman dating in a wired world:

Boys just need to pick up the phone and call. How do we get it across to them that sometimes a text message that says, "S'up cutie?" simply won't do?

So for all you daters--male and female--just know that sometimes IM-ing, e-mailing and texting is appropriate, but other times, it's OK to court old-school, Ma Bell style. Go ahead, reach out and touch someone.
