What is Sean MacPherson's Next Restaurant?
What isn't this man involved in? Sean MacPherson has his hands in Bar Lubitsch, the Roger Room, the Good Luck Bar, Jones, El Carmen and Swingers (his bid for the Magic Castle appears to be over, though). Now it appears he's gotten ahold of Orso on West 3rd Street (across from Cedars Sinai and the Beverly Center), according to state records, which could mean plans to open a new eatery or bar. Earlier this month, a Chowhound posting indicated the building was in escrow. As one of the area's big-time operators, he's a man who brings L.A. quality eateries and bars, so whatever this is to be, we're sure it's a good thing.
Umami Burger to Open 4th Location in Hollywood
Talk about burger explosion. After opening the original Umami Burger last year, owner Adam Fleischman this summer announced two more locations in Los Feliz (now open) and in Santa Monica (not open yet). And now Los Angeles Magazine finds that a fourth location will go inside the former Snack Bar space at Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood. That's killer, but, hey, Adam, how about some downtown and Valley love? Thanks!
Brent's Deli vs. Rick Caruso
Since Brent's Deli (of Northridge fame) opened in Westlake Village, the place has been packed. Well, it looks like developer Rick Caruso (of The Grove, The Americana fame) noticed this as well, and his center at the same off-ramp with Bristol Farms as anchor tenant is about to get a Nate & Al's from Beverly Hills, complete with the Mendelsohns. Let the Deli wars begin!

Buttermilk Truck to Hit the Streets on November 11th
Get ready for some breakfast street food. Eater LA confirms that "Team Buttermilk Truck has officially confirmed the mobile vendor's November 11 launch date." And it won't just be pancakes and applewood sausages. At night, look out for chicken and waffles and the Buttermilk Brick.
How to Eat Vegan & Vegetarian During dineLA
It's dineLA week, are you checking out new restaurants? Some vegans felt their options were limited, but the bloggers and readers at Quarrygirl are calling all the restaurants, asking if they'll accommodate vegans. Most restaurants so far are agreeable, but two are not. There's nothing surprising about Chaya Downtown not offering vegan food, but La Grande Orange, the restaurant that promotes dishes made from fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients? That's just disappointing.
