LAist loves Honor Student. They are a trio of L.A. funnymen-filmmakers: David's the one with the great hair who makes incredibly realistic masturbation faces. He stars in this installment of "Chasing Donovan", their on-going series of short comedic episodes (they've also done videos for The Mae Shi). Matt and Oz work behind the scenes, and their hair is also not too bad. They are also possibly the only Oklahoman-Dominican directing duo working in the industry today. LAist wishes we could interview them, but they are men of mystery who flee from the paparazzi and only appear in public while fully costumed in the guise of dead presidents. You might be able to track them down at Skooby's in Hollywood, though.

Clip is slightly NSFW for language and banana-related sexual content.

A man in a Members Only jacket sits at the counter of the diner where Tony Soprano and his family have dinner. It's the very last scene of The Sopranos, and the stranger's presence is one of many theories that has developed from the show's controversial ending. In an attempt to shed some more light on this matter, we investigated the famous piece of outerware in earlier, more innocent times with General Hospital star Anthony Geary. Did Tony get whacked or not? Well, according to Members Only, "When You Put It On...Something Happens."

These guys are fantastic - subtle moves plus outrageous ones.

We have said repeatedly on this blog that record labels have no excuse to continue to ignore music videos to help market their artists. Not regular ones. Not tired, stale ones of the band pretending to perform interspersed with slow-motion narratives using actors and over-saturated colors.

After all these years have you still not learned shit from OK Go?

Here we have a beautiful example of how you don't need a big budget, you don't need the band lip-syncing, infact you dont even need to keep the subject matter in focus. All you need is a good idea, a decent song, and a dash of creativity.

It's Daft Punk "harder better faster stronger", y'all.

For your 4:20 Video Time delectation today, we present a rare clip from a 70's surfing video featuring the super-rad stylings of the legendary Jay Adams.

As Spring fades away let's revisit the best video we've seen all season.

Thanks cops for proving that you guys get the best stuff.

Here's Dr. Gene Scott AKA God's Angry Man with his infamous Monkey Band, which he uses here as a stand-in for the FCC.

Yesterday we showed you some jumping over at Rock Pool in Malibu Creek. Today we show you Rindge Dam, which is further down the road from Rock Pool.

According to the owner of this video, "the rock pool def sucks compared to Rindge Dam." Okay then.

It's summertime folks, and we hope you are enjoying the many refreshing activities around LA. We recently visited this very same spot at Malibu Canyon's Rock Pool (shown in the video) and are not so confident the water is as deep this year (but we can hope!). Still, it's a great hike that you'll get wet on unless you are some kind of super rock climber.

For years he was Howard Stern's head writer. Of course that title pissed off Fred Norris, but that was all part of the multi-layered levels of fun that was the Stern show for a decade.

Either due to Jackie asking for too much money or of Jackie not wanting to wake up early every morning (something that Artie Lange is now complaining about), Martling was not resigned and in 2001 Lange was eventually hired to be the go-to joke guy.

Lange's surprising success might overshadow Jackie's contribution to America's most successful morning radio show, but true Stern fans know how important the Joke Man was to Howard's huge ratings.

Jackie was nice enough to answer some questions for us this week and if you're lucky you have a ticket to see him perform at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills at 8 p.m.

A tip of the hat to Anne Thompson at Variety for directing us to this first look at the trailer for the upcoming Coen Bros. film, No Country For Old Men.

Perhaps returning to their roots in Blood Simple, the Coens have crafted a crime-thriller about a hunter who stumbles upon dead bodies, a stash of heroin and more than $2 million in cash near the Rio Grande. The film will hit American theaters in November.

Dear LAist,

Roger Waters is playing the Hollywood Bowl tonight and you haven't said WORD ONE about it! What more does a man have to do than write the best parts of THE WALL, and Dark Side of the Moon?

Poseurs,

Adam in Tarzana

Bro, we were just waiting to see if anyone noticed. Congratulations, send us your cell phone number and we will buy you a beer at the show. We've had our tickets for months.

And word is he's going to do his thing for one half of the show and in the second half its all Dark Side in its entirety, very similar to when he stopped by in October and played the Bowl.

I decided this video couldn't wait, so today 9:20 A.M. is the new 4:20 P.M.

A tip of the hat to The Documentary Blog for alerting us to the fact that filmmaker A.J. Schnack just posted clips from About A Son, his upcoming documentary about Kurt Cobain. The film features loads of audio clips from interviews with the Nirvana singer conducted by music writer Michael Azerrad, who was Cobain's "authorized biographer."

About A Son is currently making the festival rounds. There's no official theatrical or home video release date. But Schnack has posted the doc's soundtrack list on his personal blog, which includes The Vaselines, Butthole Surfers, Mark Lanegan, Half Japanese, Mudhoney, Iggy Pop and Arlo Guthrie among others.

Prior to the Cobain doc, Schnack made a great doc called Gigantic: A Tale of Two John’s about They Might Be Giants, which you can see here.

Unlike the Michael Cera gets fired from Knocked Up clip we mentioned a while back, this looks like it might be a real outtake from the movie. It features Jonah (Jonah Hill) spouting off to Alison (Katherine Heigl) about the disappointing lack of hot gay sex in Ang Lee's "boundary-pushing" film, Brokeback Mountain.

A resident in our neighbor city to the north is using YouTube to advocate against a proposed tax by the City of Santa Clarita to help purchase open space.

Both sides have good points (nature is good/over development is bad vs. the program sunsets in 30 years, therefore the city can then sell(out) for development) and some very weak ones too (development causes crime vs. "it's really not a green belt"). This is the second attempt by the City of Santa Clarita to get the Open Space Preservation District passed by voters. If passed, the voters will have an extra tax to pay in a city that traditionally is not about taxing its residents (like no business tax for one).

The area is a Republican stronghold with a growing Democratic population. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

It is a shame Oprah does not upload video clips to YouTube, especially important and touching ones dear to us here in Los Angeles. Such is the amazing rerun segment from last Wednesday (originally aired in April) where she brought together two men who met in an alley on an almost fateful night in WeHo:

Twenty years ago, Matthew was a young teenage runaway - he now currently works as a manager at the Museum of Tolerance. Tim was a former neo-Nazi - he now speaks of his past experiences at the Museum as part of the Wiesenthal Center’s Task Force Against Hate.

In meeting each other and through conversation, they realized that years ago. Matthew had been victimized by Tim’s gang. Theirs is the remarkable story of reconciliation between the perpetrator and the victim of a hate crime.

Video inspired from the tunnel at the museum that you can walk through that shouted racial stereotypes and a trippy dream afterward.

LAist was minding its own business last night at Boardener's having drinks with Gothamist co-Founder Jen Chung, and after we did as much damage to her expense account as we could, we ran into two of our favorite gays.

Perez Hilton and Bobby Trendy! Like, OMG.

Perez seemed to be in a rush to leave whatever party was happening at the World of Wonder HQ, but Bobby was more than happy to answer questions about Anna Nicole, his favorite bars in LA, and even cracked a few really good jokes that we are happy to share with you today.

Charles Nelson Reilly is STILL dead. By special request, one more tribute to a great man.
