There Is An Art Show Dedicated To Cunnilingus In Hollywood This Weekend

There is art show in Hollywood dedicated to one sacred act: cunnilingus.

Cunnilingus is the act of orally pleasing a woman. It is derived from the Neo-Latin word cunnus, which means "vulva," and lingua, which means tongue. Wikipedia has listed the following hilariously terrible euphemisms as alternative ways to reference the act: "drinking from the furry cup," "carpet muching," "muff-diving," "lip service," "giving lip," and an old Victorian term, "tipping the velvet."

Eat Me: A Cunnilingus Themed Art Show will take place on Saturday, August 20 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Junior High in Hollywood (a gallery, not an actual junior high). The show has been curated by VICE columnist Alison Stevenson and Elizabeth Vazquez to "bring awareness towards the simple fact that in the realm of casual sex, cunnilingus is not a privilege. It's a right." The exhibit will feature pieces from artists including Frances Canon, Kate Klingbeil, Penelope Gazin, Sashiko Yuen (Wishcandy), Carly Jean Andrews, Luisa Rodriguez, Fahren Feingold and Meghan Quinn. There will also be a comedy show with Caitlin Gil, Megan Koester, Alison Stevenson, Clare O'Kane and Jenny Yang at 8 p.m. The art will remain up through August 21.

Stevenson previously wrote an article for VICE in March of 2015 detailing why she has decided not to provide fellatio to men anymore. For one, she does not enjoy it and additionally, not enough men reciprocate. She told LA Weekly that she has been a "cunnilingus cruiser" for the past few years.

"[I] want to drive that home, spread cunnilingus awareness, so women don't have to ask for it, the way blowjobs are so casual," she said.

The show is free, though a $5 donation is encouraged. You can RSVP on Facebook here.

Junior High is located at 5656 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. The opening reception will be on Saturday, August 20 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can also check out the art from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, and there will be a closing reception on that day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
