The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied — and sated, for that matter.

Bacon and bubbly: Santa Monica Wine Expo will be hosting a tasting of a variety of sparkling wines paired with smoked swine this Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m.-11 p.m. It might sound a little bit odd, but champagne (and cava and the like) really do work well with fatty foods, serving as scrubbing bubbles to cleanse the palate. Though there's no sign of our favorite pork purveyor Benton's, they'll be serving Orville’s Apple Pie, Soarin’ Swine Mesquite, Apple Bottom Gene’s Plump Rump Cracked Pepper & Garlic, Lola’s Chipotle, and Montego Bay Jamaican Jerk bacons. And as if that wasn't enough, Evan Funke's new porchetta truck will be parked outside during happy hour. The tasting is $29 per person, and includes olives, crackers, and bread to help soak up all the goodness. You can find out more info here.

Pasadena Burger Week begins: We gushed about the festivities yesterday, but consider this a friendly reminder that Pasadena's Burger Week begins this Sunday. There are a few unique food crawls and specials that various restaurants around the area have crafted in honor of the occasion. For more info, read our post here.

Golden Globe drinking games: The gals over at the Happy Hour Tour have crafted a pretty darn cute drinking game to go along with Sunday's Golden Globe Awards. Rules include taking shots whenever anyone mentions “30 Rock” and “Parks & Recreation” (the hosts' shows) and drinking when someone drops a line about being able to drink at the Golden Globes (other awards shows like the Oscars don't allow booze during the program). The Globes will be broadcast live from Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 13th at 5 p.m. PST. You can start drinking whenever you please, though.
