Dodgers Acquire Skip Schumaker from Cardinals for Minor Leaguer
As if Ryu Hyun-Jin and Zack Greinke weren't enough, Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reported that the Dodgers have traded for St. Louis Cardinals outfielder and second baseman Skip Schumaker pending a physical. According to Mike Petriello of Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness the Dodgers will be sending minor league shortstop Jake Lemmerman in exchange.
The 32-year old Schumaker, who bats left-handed and throws right handed, returns to Southern California having gone to Aliso Viejo High and going to college at UC Santa Barbara. He made his Major League debut in 2005 and helped the Cardinals in their 2011 World Series championship.
A lifetime .288 hitter, Schumaker is under contract through this season and is due $1.5 million.
