We're not sure if waffles or lattes will be served; in fact, we have zero deets on the spread. But we do know that the Los Angeles Police Foundation (LAPF) is hosting a breakfast February 16 with LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.

Yo! Venice! posted an image of the invite (above) today along with the tempting text: "Join us for a breakfast and briefing with Chief Charlie Beck on the 'State of Public Safety in the City of Los Angeles.'" The department will laud its successes and detail "challenges and plans to make Los Angeles the safest big city in the U.S."

"Crime Is Toast" costs $35, and the invite says space is limited. Breakfast with Beck will be served in the Compstat Briefing Room of the LAPD Administration Building.

Interested in chatting with the chief over a piping hot Egg McBeck and a LAPD latte? RSVP by February 13 to LAPF at 213.489.4636.

  • FYI I just called the LAPF from 902 800 0369 )Nova Scotia) to try to have you folks relay a message to Chief Charlie before he has some fancy coffee and they quite simply did not care. Inn response  I will share the documents we discussed with the media beginning with the folks who own this we page. I will also post them on the Internet for the world to discuss in short order. P.S I like the fact the editor came down from Canada in 1990 like I did in the same year

  • Unable to attend.  However, I would encourage Chief Beck to stand-up against the mayor and tell him that as 'Top-Cop' you swore to uphold the law.  Boy, bet this would draw attention to the Chief as a possible 'Hero.'   A city official willing to place public safety as a priority, instead of trying to solicit votes or promote Villaraigosa for his next job search..
