The collective of street food vendors who used to operate as the Breed Street Food Fair were forced to close down in 2009, but several of the vendors are hoping to resume operations legally in Boyle Heights at a planned evening farmers' market.

To help get them some cash to cover costs, eight of the vendors will be taking part in a fundraiser event tonight in East Los Angeles.

For a $1 entrance fee, customers can mingle and purchase tasty tacos and pupusas to nibble on.

The funds raised will help the vendors buy the kind of proper equipment they need to get a permit, and other overhead costs, explains Streetsblog LA.

The fundraiser is tonight, Friday February 3, from 5 to 10 p.m. outside the offices of the East Los Angeles Community Corporation.
