Another Victim Stabbed at a Red Line Station [UPDATED]

Someone was stabbed at the Metro Red Line station today in downtown this afternoon.

There aren't too many details about the circumstances or even the gender of the victim, but City News Service is reporting that it happened at the Red Line Station on 7th Street downtown just after 2 pm. The victim was transported to a trauma center.

This is the fourth stabbing on Metro in the last few months. A man was stabbed to death on a Red Line train this August (his family later filed a suit against Metro claiming it didn't provide enough security). Later that month a man was stabbed on a Gold Line train. Two people were stabbed at a Hollywood Red Line station in November.

It seems that the Red Line needs more love than these flashmobbers singing Lil Wayne might have imagined.

UPDATE: CBS Los Angeles reported that the victim was identified only as a black male, and the suspect who stabbed him is still on the run.

  • I take the Metro every day.  Unfortunately, someone thinks it's a better idea to have our Sheriff's Dept and LAPD checking passengers for tickets rather than keeping an eye out for our safety.

  • I am so sorry to hear that. And yes, people should watch out for themselves and others in the metro station.
