Courtney Love: Family Pet Killer
Songstress Courtney Love has done a lot of questionable things during life in the limelight, like throwing makeup compacts at Madonna during an interview with MTV's Kurt Loder following the MTV Video Music Awards in 1995. But according to recent reports, she's done something we're not sure anyone could have suspected. She allegedly (though inadvertently) killed two of her family's pets.
Love's 19-year-old daughter with the late Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain, filed a restraining order against her mother in 2009 following a mother-daughter brawl, and the deposition documents have been uncovered by the The Fix.
In the previously sealed documents, Cobain claims two family pets died due to Love's hoarding habits and pill popping lifestyle. The cat passed away after becoming "entangled in piles of Etsy fabrics, boxes of paperwork, trash and other possessions" in the family's home. The dog died after swallowing "a pile" of mom's pills.
Cobain says her mother "has taken drugs for a long as [she] can remember" and consumes a healthy diet of "Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes." Cobain added, "She rarely eats....She often falls asleep in her bed while she is smoking, and I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times) that will threaten our lives."
If you care to learn more about the troubled San Francisco native, The Fix has published Love's candid confessions in a new e-book, "Courtney Comes Clean," which is the first in a monthly series covering addiction-related subjects. Interested parties may purchase the surely provocative read for $2.99 here.
How does Love feel about her addiction? “I think of myself as sober,” she says. “When you’re used to heroin and cocaine, a few pills doesn’t seem like the end of the world."
