On June 15, 2011, the 47-year-old allegedly chased and beat a homeless man with a tire iron, breaking the man's left forearm and cutting his head. While sitting in his car at the 101 Freeway Vermont Avenue off-ramp, Lee was approached by the homeless man for money. Prosecutors say Lee was offended by the transient's sexually explicit tattoo and chased him down and assaulted him. Lee was arrested January 16 and accused of assault with a deadly weapon.
During today's arraignment, the judge granted Lee permission to travel to Korea on a business trip, reports CBS LA. However, Lee must surrender his passport during his next court date.
Lee also faces the allegation that the assault caused great bodily harm, according to L.A. Now. His charges carry up to four years in prison with the possibility of an additional three years for the special allegation.
The date of his next court appearance has not been reported.
UPDATE 1:56 PM Lee's next court appearance is scheduled for March 5 for a preliminary hearing-setting, reports City News Service.
