'Ask a Mortician' and She'll Tell You About Space Burials, Where the Famous Go to Die and How to Bake Your Remains into Chocolate Cake

Caitlin Doughty believes her fascination with death started when she was a little girl and she witnessed a girl fatally fall from the balcony of a local mall.

"It was a real, real turning point in my life," she told Off-Ramp. "It was quite a psychological thing for me for quite awhile, and I think part of my interest in death might just be a way to figure it out."

Doughty went on to get a degree in mortuary science and start a delightful (no, really!) web series about death (that's been featured on Jezebel). She fields questions about death and the death industry, like what happens to corpses in space, whether your friends and family can bake your remains into a chocolate cake to eat and where all the famous people go to die.

Off-Ramp caught up with the local mortician to ask her a few questions of their own about Los Angeles' oldest cemetery, what she hopes people will take away from her web series and her future plans in the death industry.
