It's funny when rival public radio stations get into tiffs with each other (or...it would be if we could think of an instance in which that had happened), but it's even funnier when they outright prank each other. (Democrats have a sense of humor, too!)

In this case, the warring parties are KPCC and KPFK. Both are award-winning, local stations, and both are listener-supported. But today, the OC Weekly brings our attention to a billboard that KPCC has casually erected in North Hollywood -- directly in front of KPFK's studios.

Ha.

Hey guys! You're right and we knew it and we goofed and we fixed it: No NPR on KPFK!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!
  • Thankfully, there is no NPR on KPFK (which is why I listen to KPFK and *not* KPCC).

And I see no basis to suggest this is an "outright prank."  Do you?  Based soley on the billboard's proximity to KPFK's studios?  If that's a "prank," it's a pretty lame one.
  • As a KPFK volunteer programmer, I think this is rather hilarious. But a note of clarification, KPFK is a Pacifica radio station and does not stream NPR news, but rather Pacifica news and public affair programs such as Democracy Now.
