WeHo Mayor Calls 'Bullshit' During Democratic Club Meeting, Storms Out [UPDATED]
West Hollywood Major John Duran practiced little restraint during Wednesday's Democratic Club endorsement meeting in WeHo, furiously exiting the room and yelling a few choice words after his choice candidate for California's 50th Assembly District lost.
Torie Osborn triumphed over opponent Betsy Butler for the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills Democratic Club endorsement (43 to 28), to which Duran, who actively endorsed Butler, called (loudly) "bullshit!" Interrupting Osborn's acceptance speech, Duran declared, "We're not going to work for you, Torie!"
Venice for Change posted a video of the heated political drama as well as a transcript of Duran's outburst, which we've pasted below.
DURAN: You all come out to West Hollywood soon. We're not going to work for you, Torie! This is bullshit!CLUB MODERATOR: Can we please come to order.....
DURAN: This is bullshit!
CLUB MODERATOR: Please come to order.
DURAN: (Pointing at Osborn) You divided our community. You divided our community.
CLUB MODERATOR: Will the meeting please come to order.
DURAN: West Hollywood will remember, Torie.
CLUB MEMBER: You get out organized, you get out-organized... (unintelligible)
DURAN: I'm not being a misogynist, I working for a woman (indicates towards Butler) Wake up! They're not all lesbians!"

What can we say? The man is apparently passionate about politics.
UPDATE 11:32AM It's becoming a bit more clear as to why Duran was so outraged during Wednesday night's meeting. WeHo-Beverly Hils club members, according to West Hollywood Patch, "say their endorsement process was hijacked by way of a slew of new members who allegedly joined the club for the sole purpose of securing the Osborn endorsement." And this isn't the only meeting that was followed by such claims. Members made similar charges after the Malibu Democratic Club’s endorsement of Osborn earlier this month. The club's president, Lillian Raffel, said 45 new members, some of whom are not residents of the 50th Assembly District, joined on December 29, all paid for with a single check totaling $1,125. Longtime members say the newbies pushed the endorsement vote in Osborn's favor, an accusation the candidate firmly defends.
