Hip, hip and almost hooray: The Expo Line is sooooo close to opening, and will get one step closer as of Monday, when the light rail service goes into what's called the "pre-revenue testing" phase.

Metro's The Source reports that the announcement about the Expo Line's next big move came this morning from agency CEO Art Leahy at the Metro Board meeting.

More from The Source:

The testing is intended to simulate actual service with trains running on a regular schedule, but with no customers on board. Trains will be operating between the Expo Line terminus at 7th/Metro Center and the La Cienega/Jefferson station while work continues on the final station in Culver City.

Okay, so yes...testing is not actual service. But this means things are getting nearer to being completed, signed off, and ready to run.

Oh, but Metro still won't give us an actual opening date. Errr, maybe April? Hang in there, guys...we'll get there.
