Robert Casteel, the dad of fourth-grader at a Riverside elementary school, decided to take out a restraining order against one of his 10-year-old son's classmates after the boy pulled out a knife and told his son that he was going to hurt him after school, reports KTLA.

It seems like something that school administrators would be quick to try to rectify, but when Casteel called the school to discuss the incident, he was told that the principal was on a conference call.

Casteel then called the police, who found a pocket knife on the boy. Casteel kept his son out of school for five days until he was able to get a restraining order, which will require the boy with the knife to stay 20 feet away from his son.

In the meantime, maybe that school wants to rethink it's strategy for determining priorities.

Huh, I didn't think you could take out restraining orders on minors. That seems kind of odd - but good that it was definitely needed in this particular case.

Also - guys calls principal after son is threatened with a knife - and the principal is unavailable??? Wow.

You dont understand how much I endorse and applaude this shit right here and wonder why this isn't done more for this horrible issue of Bullying. To take out a restraining order is free, lawyer not necessary (unless you want) and if you come near my kid again, you have serious legal consequence or I can LEGALLY put my foot up your douchebag kids ass.

Its clear that teachers, staff and administration will not make moves from protecting kids from these mini douches in training. If that was my kid I'd do the same thing, possibly level the order against his entire family and transfer my kid to a new school.

You have to send your kid to a small, non religious private nowadays. and thats $10K to $30K minimum. Shit is real with how shitty the education system is right now, ESPECIALLY LAUSD. Holding off on having children until I secure a couple million.
