Weed Smoking Man on JetBlue Flight Says He Thought it Was OK to Toke
It's one thing to not listen to the safety instructions on airplanes. It's another thing to suggest that you've completely and utterly ignored standard airline regulations for the past fourteen years, which one SoCal man did yesterday on a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Newark, New Jersey.
Adam Blumenkranz, 43, of Los Angeles allegedly lit up a pot pipe in the bathroom of a JetBlue aircraft, reports KTLA. When he was met by police officers at the gate upon landing, he reportedly told them that he thought it was fine for him to smoke in there because he had a medical marijuana card.
The AP reports that flight attendants got suspicious of Blumenkranz when he dropped a clear plastic baggie in the cabin, and later emerged from a trip to the bathroom reeking of weed.
Whether Blumenkranz actually didn't know that smoking has been banned on all domestic flights since 1998 is unclear. Either way, he's charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia.
