Video: How Twitterverse Reacted To SOPA/PIPA Internet Blackout

Last week's Internet blackout protesting SOPA and PIPA had the world talking, and the almighty Twitterverse was undoubtedly buzzing about the dark day. As a way to gauge the Twitter community's reaction, two technologists developed a visual representation of the speed of which tweets mentioned the brief absence of some of the web's biggest sites.

The 21-second video, "Twitter Reacts to Internet Censorship," was created by Andrei Taraschuk and Aaron Ott, says Laughing Squid, by mapping "tweets mentioning #pipa #sopa #blackout on January 18th between 8am and 8pm," according to the Vimeo page. The tweets are displayed in 1-minute interval and show a country smudged with blue dots, most notably the east coast. Los Angeles, you looked pretty busy, too.
