A man swinging a three-foot metal pole and allegedly breaking windows in a Carl's Jr. in Monterey Park was shot and killed by police officers this morning.

CBS News reports that responded to a call for help at about 9:30 a.m. on the 1200 block of Cesar Chavez Avenue. When they arrived at the restaurant, customers were leaving along with the suspect, who was reportedly still brandishing the pole.

The man was allegedly hit once by officers with a stun gun. He then came towards them and swung the pole twice, and that's when police opened fire, wounding him.

He later died of his injuries. He's described as between 20 and 30 years old, but his name hasn't been released.

Make all the excuses you want for these fucks but they executed this guy. Plain and simple. The Blue Piggy with the K-9 never even released the dog. They could have taken this guy down any number of ways but that would have meant having to do some actual policing and maybe getting their uniform dirty.

The metal pipe is a conduit bender, by the way.

  • I thought it looked like a sledge hammer, but I have never heard of a conduit bender, so that may be true.

  • crusher153

a conduit bender is a tool for bending other pipes (pipes used to carry electrical wires). if it can bend metal imagine what it could do to a human skull or other part of the body.

you can watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?f...

He didn't even swing really, and the cop shot him like 6 times to kill him, not even disarm him...

  • crusher153

he squared up on the other officer and started to move into the officer to get a swing on him. when this happened, the k9 officer deemed him to be a imminant threat to his fellow officer and took the necessary actions to protect him. lets just say if the idiot with the pipe didn't want to get shot, he should have dropped the pipe and followed the officers lawful orders.

every cops main goal each tour is to finish it and go home to their families. apparently that wasn't the goal of the pipe weilding nutjob.

just to clarify things, if i was in the same situation as those cops it would have been the same outcome. i'm sure it would be similar if you were one of these cops too.

Sure, outcome would be the same if I really wanted to kill someone, and get away with it because I had a badge.

But then that would make me a murdering asshole.

  • crusher153

so you don't think a blow to the head with that pipe could have been fatal? wouldn't the cop have been murdered if the other cop didn't do what he did? stop being an asshole and look at the whole situation before you comment (instead of just hating cops and taking the other side all of the time).

i've been on both sides of the gun. was a cop for a few years and was harrassed by cops (who were just shitheads) when i was a younger (teens and early twenties). i don't blame every cop for the asshole cop that stuck a gun to the back of my head for absolutely no reason at all. my friends parents brought him a nice car for getting a scholarship. he was giving me a ride in it after school to show it off. they pulled us over, pulled both of us out of the car and had us face down while they looked through his car. the one officer had the barrel of his gun shoved into the base of my skull. they had absolutely no reason to pull us over other than the fact that we were young in a nice car. a week later one of the officers gave my friend a community service award (for work he had done prior to this incident) and couldn't even look my friend in the eye. my point is, there is bad wherever you go, whatever profession etc...

what you have to look at is these officers tried everything to subdue this person before using deadly force. they started with a verbal command, went up to mace, a stun gun, and ultimately their firearms. they gave this guy plenty of chances to get out of this situation and they did show restraint. they didn't go out and say were going to kill the first dickhead we see. if that was the case, they would not have tried every avenue to subdue the suspect. you would also see like a hundred thousand shootings by cops each year if cops didn't show restraint.

are cops everyones favorite people? absolutely not. i fuckin hate most of them due to their better than thou attitude. but to think everyone of them is out to kill is rediculous! and to think these particular cops just wanted to kill is even more so.

  • Police don't "shoot at moving legs"... this isn't TV or Grand Theft Auto the video game. There is a reason why they aim for the most easily hit target (upperbody) instead of moving limbs. Think before you speak.

  • Paul

And there it goes again, fatal shots, not shooting the legs to take him down. He would be out of it and still require medical assistance, but he wouldn't be dead during a metal pole vs GUN incident.

  • crusher153

ur an idiot! police are not trained to "wing" someone. they are trained to hit center mass. the main reason for this is torso is the biggest part of the human body to hit. its hard enough to hit center mass on a paper target, let alone one that is charging at you swingin a pipe. these officers tried to utilize non lethal tools (the taser gun) to subdue the suspect before using their firearms. they showed restraint and used their firearms, only when it became apparent that their lives and the lives of other people were in danger. so stop being a moron and read the story before you comment! good job officers!

  • Paul

Restraint involves officer #1 unloading his clip followed by officer number 2 shooting?

Shooting a guy 10-12 times holding a pole is justifiable?

Shooting a guy an additional 5-6 times after he's on his way down is "restraint" ?
