Man Who Committed Suicide Off 5 Freeway Overpass Identified
The man who leapt to his death from a 5 Freeway overpass on Saturday morning in San Clemente has been identified.
Officials have released the name and age of the victim as 20-year-old Jeffrey Hurlbut, reports The OC Register. The young man jumped from Avenida Vista Hermosa into below traffic and was struck by multiple vehicles.
A woman who was with Hurlbut before his death called authorities at 2:39am and told dispatchers Hurlbut left on foot and threatened to commit suicide. She reportedly followed him to the overpass, where he jumped.
The suicide remains under investigation.
