Mailman Caught on Video Tossing Package with Antique Clock Over Fence

About a week ago Michael Oreb installed security cameras at his home in North Hollywood, because his family was worried about someone like the arsonist being on the prowl. But the cameras ended up not catching a criminal act, but a thoughtless US Postal Service worker lobbing a special delivery over the fence.

Oreb was waiting on a 1938 German black forest cuckoo clock, he told NBC. On Tuesday, he watched in horror as the mailman pulled up and lobbed the clock over the fence. Oreb tried to chase the mailman down, but he was gone and the cuckoo clock needed a little TLC. Oreb called the USPS to complain, and within ten minutes a rep was over there trying to sort it out.

USPS released a statement on the incident:

"The U.S. Postal Service was dismayed to see the video of one of our employee throwing a parcel over a fence. That does not represent the kind of service we strive to provide our customers. ... This matter is currently being investigated to determine the appropriate actions to be taken with regards to the employee and our customer."

This isn't the first time a delivery man just lobbed a fragile package over the fence without thinking.

No way to even really reprimand the guy either,  gov't union protection.  he will just end up with a write up and he and his fellow workers will laugh about it over beers.  I know, I am a postal worker.

This is standard USPS.  If he hadn't gotten this on tape and it were insured, they'd have denied the insurance claim claiming "insufficient packaging".  Happened to me.

    this guy is mega pleasant.

My wife caught one of the OnTrac guys pitching a package from Amazon over our fence and on to our porch during the holidays.  It was a book, so not fragile really, but I regret with all of the holiday craziness not taking the time to report it.
