L.A. Restaurant Gets A Facelift As Ellen DeGeneres' New Vegan Joint, Manned By Popular Vegan Chef
A few months ago, the news of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi opening a vegan restaurant in L.A. had fans of the funnywomen and cuisine dancing in the streets. The details on the project have been scarce, but we learned a new juicy bit today. As it turns out, the duo will be investing in the revamp of an existing Studio City eatery.
Bokado, a tapas bar on Ventura Boulevard, has closed its doors for about a month and a half to undergo a reconceptualization, reports Eater LA. Having catered DeGeneres and de Rossi's vegan wedding and prepped the eats for Oprah's vegan cleanse, vegan Chef Tal Ronnen will exercise his meatless mastery to create the menu for the new vegan joint.
Financed by DeGeneres and Rossi with partners Chrissie Hynde and Steve Bing, Bokado's makeover team reportedly tapped Waldo Fernandez to design.
Per Bokado's voicemail, the restaurant will open "with a new concept at the end of February."
