Man and Woman With "extensive rap sheets" Accused of Gunning Down Teen Soccer Player Lured Out of His Home

Details about two suspects arrested for the murder of 17-year-old high school student and soccer player Francisco "Pancho" Rodriguez were made public today by the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities say 24-year-old Jason Schumann and 19-year-old Elizabeth Ibarra, both from Calabasas, are being held without bail in connection with the murder.
LAPD Deputy Chief Jorge Villegas explained during a press conference this afternoon that "investigators were led to the suspects by avariety of anonymous tips, along with help from Rodriguez's family, Los Angeles School Police and Los Angeles Unified School District officials," according to City News Service.
Rodriguez was fatally shot January 11, when the El Camino Real High School student had just returned home from playing a game against Taft High. One suspect, allegedly Ibarra, knocked on the door and asked for him. When he emerged, he was shot.
Villegas called Rodriguez's killing "a tragic situation," and "a senseless murder" that left the Winnetka community in shock. Authorities have said this was not a randomly killing, however they have not revealed information about a motive. Villegas noted Schumann and Ibarra "have extensive rap sheets and both are currently on probation.''
