The Azusa man who allegedly tried to snap, crackle, kill his wife by poisoning her Rice Krispies cereal has been charged today with attempted murder.

Arrested on January 12, Fernando Porras, 43, has been ordered to remain in jail in lieu of $1 million bail, reports City News Service.

Paramedics responded to a call from the victim's daughter around 8:40pm Thursday at a home in the 200 block of North Dalton Avenue after the victim noticed a horrible smell and taste as she began eating her cereal. She was rushed to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital with her husband at her side. Porras fled once police arrived, and after further investigation authorities tracked him down and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.

The all-purpose cleaner Goof Off was found in her cereal in a quantity that was enough to kill her. The victim was released from the hospital in good condition Friday morning.

Porras' arraignment is slated for February 1 in Pomona Superior Court.
