Police have arrested two suspects in connection with last Monday night's fatal shooting in North Hollywood which claimed the life of 24-year-old Danilo Estuardo Morales.

KTLA reports that authorities have declined to release any details about the arrests, stating only that the arrests occurred over the weekend.

Morales was shot and killed outside his North Hollywood home in the 8000 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue after chasing a trio of bandits who had just mugged Morales' 68-year-old grandfather, Manuel Flores, in the victim's driveway. Morales, after hearing his grandfather's cries for help and the sound of a gunshot, rushed outside and chased the suspects as they fled in their vehicle, a white SUV. He was shot in the head and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Flores' daughter, Marta Flores, described the actions leading to Morales' murder. "He followed the suspects and he broke their back window open, and that's when they shot at him."

The grandfather did not suffer any injuries during the attack but was robbed of his wallet and jewelry.

A candlelight vigil honoring Morales drew a crowd of nearly 100 people on Tuesday night.

UPDATE 1:59PM Police have released the identities of the detained suspects. Rene Ramirez, 29, of Mission Hills and Evin Adonis Ortiz, 22, of Valley Glen were booked on suspicion of murder and are being held at the Van Nuys jail with bail set at $1 million, reports City News Service. A third suspect is still at large, and the getaway vehicle has been recovered.
