Occupy Friday the 13th: Los Angeles Protesters Targets Real Estate Auctioneers and Bank of New York Mellon

Today the Occupy Los Angeles movement—with its renewed focus on foreclosures—is rallying downtown to protest the actions of the Bank of New York Mellon and Auction.com.

The movement has been rallying around two elderly Angeleno women that are going through foreclosures: Faith Park, 79, from South Central Los Angeles and Bertha Herrera, 63, of Van Nuys. Protesters say that Bank of New York Mellon and Auction.com profit off of the foreclosures of women like Park and Herrera.

The protest is coordinated with other Occupy protests going on nationwide on Friday the 13th (an ominous day for the superstitious on Wall Street). Bank of New York Mellon has gone to court to try to evict protesters from its park in downtown Pittsburgh. The U.S. Attorney's Office and several state attorneys have accused the company of defrauding its clients.
