A man was shot to death in Hollywood early this morning while he was waiting for a bus with his girlfriend, police say.

Cesar Gonzalez, 25, was shot while at a bus stop on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street around 1:15 am. Gonzalez's girlfriend told officers that two suspects approached her and her boyfriend while they were waiting at the stop, according to a police statement:

One of the suspects pushed her to the ground, while the other suspect engaged in conversation with Gonzalez. The suspect who was talking with Gonzalez suddenly pulled out a small handgun and started shooting, striking Gonzalez in the chest. Both suspects ran from the scene in an unknown direction. The suspects are described only as a male Hispanic and a male Asian in their 20's.

Gonzalez was transported to a hospital but he died shortly after. Police said they believe the motive for the shooting was gang-related.
