Anonymous Actress Who Sued IMDb for Hurting Her Career By Posting Her Birth Date Goes Public
The "Jane Doe" who sued IMDb after claiming that the website invaded her privacy and harmed her career by posting her birthdate has gone public with her suit.
The actress was told by a judge that if she wanted her suit to proceeded she needed to go public. IMDb said the woman was too thin-skinned, it dismissed claims that she would face any sort of retaliation from the industry and it said that IMDb isn't really a "player" in the industry.
But now the actress Huong Hoang—known by her stage name Junie Hoang—has come came out publicly and filed an amended complaint so she can continue on with her suit, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Actors unions have come out with support in favor of Hoang's case, saying age is just a number—all that should matter is what an actor or actress can pass for on the screen.
Hoang said that her identity was revealed when she signed up for IMDb Pro and they got her birthday from her credit card information. Hoang has more than 90 credits to her name.
