'Cowboy' Horse Falls Into Manhole, Hollers & Cries During Struggle
He's a cowboy, alright. A horse named Cowboy unexpectedly fell into a manhole along Lincoln Avenue in Altadena on Wednesday afternoon.
During a trot with rider Damon Scott, the owner's brother-in-law, Cowboy stepped onto a metal manhole cover that apparently could not hold the beast's weight. It gave way, and Cowboy fell and became trapped. Scott was able to leap from Cowboy to safety.
Scott told KTLA, "As he was in the hole, he was bucking, kicking and trying to get out." Three riders attempted to pull the horse from the hole, and Scott climbed into the opening to loosen Cowboy's saddle. Scott added that Cowboy grew so fatigued, "he started hollering and crying."
As we said before, Cowboy is a cowboy. After a 10-minute struggle, he managed to escape from the manhole on his own. He suffered gashes on his legs and a possible leg fracture but is expected to recover.
