Arson Suspect's Mother Due In Court Today As Part of Her Extradition to Germany

gavel2.jpg Dorothee Burkhart, the mother of Harry Burkhart, the 24-year-old suspected arsonist who set cars and carports ablaze all over Los Angeles on a 4-day spree, is due in court this afternoon for a detention hearing.

City News Service Reports that Dorothee Burkhart's detention hearing today is part of "proceedings to extradite the woman to her native Germany."

Harry Burkhart was flagged by federal agents after he engaged in an outburst reportedly tinged with anti-American sentiments following a recent court appearance for his mother.

Combined with surveillance footage captured of the arson suspect as released by the Los Angeles Police Department, a reserve sheriff's deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spotted the white man with the ponytail, later identified as Burkhart, and pulled him over.

Burkhart, charged so far with one count of arson, and expected to be linked to some or all of the over 50 other related arson fires, is also likely to be in court today.
