Pasadena's Occupy Group Doesn't Support the Occupy the Rose Parade Protest

A group of Occupy protesters will be taking part in the Occupy the Rose Parade (OTRP) event come Monday morning, however they do not have the support or participation of the local Pasadena "Occupy" folks.

"Local activists who assemble under the banner of Occupy Pasadena declined to give their endorsement to the organizer of the Rose Parade protest, Peter Thottam, a Venice activist," according to L.A. Now.

While the Occupy the Rose Parade participants don't plan on disrupting the 123rd annual spectacle, some Pasadenians who support the occupy movement don't completely see "the wisdom of demonstrating on the day of the avowedly nonpolitical, family-friendly parade."

According to OTRP's official site, "OTRP's actions will be completely Peaceful, Nonviolent and Respectful of Pasadena's Iconic tradition."

“The Rose Parade is our chance to get our message out to mainstream America,” said Occupy the Rose Parade organizer and Pasadena resident David Cutter, according to the Pasadena Sun.

"OTRP's actions will be completely Peaceful, Nonviolent and Respectful of Pasadena's Iconic tradition."

Being NON-POLITICAL is part of Rose Parade tradition and OWS is being VERY disrespectful of that.

The idiot "protester/fame whore" goes on to say that “The Rose Parade is our chance to get our message out to mainstream America,”

What, like a mention in TIME wasn't enough? Destroying mainstream America's parks, costing people their jobs, and costing us millions in damage wasn't enough to get our attention? What the hell is a giant octopus ruining the Rose Parade going to do to better your convoluted crackhead cause? Idiots. Good for Occupy Pasadena for saying no.

I'd prefer to spend my money to fix America than spend my money so Obama can go to another family vacation...And were in debt those dollars you have are worth nothing either way   doesn't matter what we want to do..The only way to stop it is by ending the corruption..And the amount of corruption that we have in America is huge..It's not even funny how corrupt this country is.. We have to end corporate greed. We need to fix our government..Re-establish.. Also are they costing people jobs?.. because a lot of people didn't even have jobs to start with..Crackheads? so if smoking crack makes people wake up then everyone should do it. Just to let you know this isn't even the start..This is a teaser in a few more years could be this year it's going to get ugly really ugly and that's when the revolution and the re-establishment begins.I sure can't wait, can you?

  • ShakinBoots

As I said to Mr.Contageous, Being angry and unhappy about corruption and greed, does not make an automatic ows supporter. The intelligent Non-crackheads of the bunch should be splintering off to form their own SANE and LOGICAL group with tangible GOALS. Maybe Occupy Pasadena is the start of this splintering. I'll give them credit for that much. Ows has done a shitty job of inspiring anything but disrespect and contempt for themselves. They have shown themselves to be hypocrites and liars with penchants for self-victimization. No way in hellare those the "qualities" of leaders in a move for change.

They have become a joke to most people, people like myself who once supported them. They have dropped the ball and this stupid plan for the Rose Parade will only shine a light on how out of touch with reality they are, and how they have become fame whores more than anything else. I don't know a bout you, but I am not another one of their drones regurgitating their nonsense.

Your comment on crackheads is just sad. Do you really want to put your future in the hands of crackheads and narcisitic psychos? You must hav e higher standards for yourself than that...do you?

  • Salmon4Coach

So now there psycho's? I have never meet everyone of the ows people but they don't look like psycho's to me.. And i honestly don't believe OWS is a form to even protest..It's just a way to make people wake up and do something about this corrupt society.. And if we do nothing about it, it's going to stay like this for years to come.. Like i said this is just the teaser, the real deal is close to starting.. And there no where shy of being out of touch from society.. There stating facts.. Don't believe em search it up..As my self i never believe what anyone says which is why i do my own research.. The only reason for them having a bad reputation is due to corporations as they own the news and they make you believe other stuff that isn't true at all.. They said that when they were in LA to occupy that there was health concerns.. I said to myself "Are they serious right now?" THERE IN LA one of the TOP polluted CITY'S! LIKE REALLY!?!? If they care so much for our health CLEAN THAT PLACE UP!

  • ShakinBoots

Wow. Just wow. Looks like I may have overestimated you.
Most people agree that there needs to be significant changes made to minimize corruption and political bribes, etc., where ows loses the intelligent people, is in their tactics, lies, self-victimizing, ridiculous "demands" that make NO legal or logical sense, and are COMPLETELY out of touch with reality....as I've already mentioned. It is up to you to do your research. I have done mine, and have been on top of this since the beginning.

Now your blaming corporations for ows bad rep? I've already said that ows needs to take responsibility for their actions. It is THEIR actions that have given them a bad reputation. Stop blaming others for ows behavior.

Are corporations running the hundreds of ows twitter accounts? No. Those are their words for all to see. Are corporations maintaining and posting on all their websites? No. We can all read their words for ourselves by going to their sites. You have been completely indoctrinated into their cult and I won't be wasting anymore time trying to have an intelligent discussion with you about this. It is pointless. Good luck to you.

  • Salmon4Coach

I just want to know, How would you handle this situation?

  • Rocktageous

You have a decent point, except for the unnecessary all-caps, calling the cause "convoluted crackhead," and misrepresenting the impact of the protests (i.e., millions wasted on police bullying vs trampling a few lawns). The issue is weather or not they'll achieve anything with this tactic. At the very least, disrupting a parade for a bit pales in comparison to the corruption, greed, environmental destruction, and class warfare that OWS is fighting. So, chillax.

  • Spanky Spankster

" disrupting a parade for a bit pales in comparison to the corruption,
greed, environmental destruction, and class warfare that OWS is
    fighting."

Lunatics ALWAYS rationalize their egregious behavior.  Accolytes of the Occupotty Gang are no exception.

  • ShakinBoots

Rocktageous seems to have caught a contageous case of The Stupid. He can't refute facts and resorts to the cop out of "fake outrage". How ironic.

  • Rocktageous

I'm giving you enough credit to assume this is fake outrage. Otherwise, you have absurdly stupid priorities. Fake outrage deserves no rebuttal.

  • ShakinBoots

And a decent job you did trying to minimize, deflect, and dismiss the damage OWS has caused to the people they claim to be fighting for.

Nationwide, this "protest" has cost low rage workers at small businesses near the camps to lose hours and in some cases, lose their jobs as OWS has hurt small businesses nearby. Each camp has caused costly damage to public spaces that belong to the people (the 99%) who now have to pay for that damage. They also cost tax payers (the 99%) the price of forcing law enforcment to waste resources on them. Damage is in the millions.

OWS needs to start taking responsibility for what they do. Volunteering to be arrested and then crying brutality doesn't fly.

ANY kind of Rose Parade protest is an unwelcome imposistion on, again, (the 99%) who just want to have fun, free of political BS for one day a year.

I've also pointed out the hypocrisy of OWS to claim that they are being "respectful" of Rose Parade tradition, while CLEARLY they are disrespecting the participants, the audiences, and the tradition of an apolitical event.

All these fools are doing is further pushing people who are on the fence, over into the anti ows crowd. Virtually everything they have done over the past 2 months has only worked against them and pushed people away from the original cause. And yes, the message has become an incoherent mess. I'm sure an octopus puppet made out of trash bags is going to make it all nice and clear right? Lol People will only hate you more for it, i.e., counter-productive.

  • Rocktageous

I'm calling fake outrage. The human body that I'll use as an example of our country is hemorrhaging blood. Maybe Occupy the Rose Parade thinks it can stop the hemorrhaging without applying pressure to the wound. You don't care about the bleeding, you're now pretending to be outraged that they wasted a pack of gauze and part of a roll of medical tape.

  • ShakinBoots

lol I see, so when people make valid points that you can't even attempt to refute, you just call it "fake outrage"? That says everything anyone needs to know about you and your support of a group of people NOBODY takes seriously anymore.

"Octopus puppets will show the people they should support us...yeah, yeah, that'll do it. Got crack?" - Ocuppiers everywhere

  • Rocktageous

Don't put fake outrage in quotes. It is phony outrage, unless it's hateful and stupid. Why is your outrage fake? You're really angry because a group of people have an incoherent message. They're angry because deregulation, corruption, and greed nearly destroyed the economy around the globe. That's a bit worse. Those people who might not enjoy the Rose Parade as much this year because of the disturbance would probably rather have jobs again and a retirement account that isn't completely depleted. Yes, cities are wasting money they don't have on the protests, but peaceful protests don't require a military-like response. That's the powers that be at work. Costly damage to public space? The environmental impact of all the damage put together is equivalent to what, like 75 seconds of the BP oil spill? I think OWS has serious tactical flaws, but I have better things to do than feel superior sitting on my ass.

  • ShakinBoots

I see you've gotten your crack fix.

Why is it, when someone points out logical, valid reasons for why OWS are a bunch of idiots, people like you automatically assume we love banks and corruption? It IS possible to be unhappy with many of the things OWS USED to stand for, but to also recognize that ows doesn't represent ALL of us.

To put it simply for your simple mind, I am very much against greed, outsourcing, corruption, etc., but I am also smart enough to know that OWS is going nowhere and incapable of making positive, tangible change.

P.S. you sound like a whiney child. "Don't put fake outrage in quotes". Wahh. It's in quotes because I was quoting you. That's how quotes are used. Man, so dumb.
