Pencil This In: Bob Seger, Truffaut/Lubitsch Double Features & The 2011 It Sucked! Awards

As you recover from Christmas, finish celebrating Hanukkah and gear up to ring in the new year, get out for some film, music and laughs. Two double features screen tonight, honoring Ernst Lubitsch at the Aero Theatre and François Truffaut at the New Beverly Theater. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band rock the Staples Center, bringing L.A. a needed dose of classic rock and roll. And if you need a good chuckle, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre talks smack on 2011 in a very special awards show.

FILM
The Aero Theatre premieres the first films of their Screwball Comedy Classics series this evening. Nicola Lubitsch, daughter of Ernst Lubitsch, presents a double feature of her father's work, including the 1939 romcom "Ninotchka" followed by 1933's "Design for Living." The series runs through January 5. Tonight's ticket holders have the chance to win a DVD of The Criterion Collection's "Design For Living." 7:30pm. $7-$11.

MUSIC
Summon those "Hollywood Nights" and practice your "Night Moves" with rock and rollers Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band at the Staples Center. 7:30pm. $45-$125.

COMEDY*
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre presents "The 2011 It Sucked! Awards." Funnymen and funnywomen will "look back at 2011 and reflect on the moments that made us say to ourselves, "That sucked!" according to the event listing. 7:30pm. $5. A stand-by line will be available for this show.

FILM
François Truffaut fans, head to the New Beverly Theater for a double bill of "The Bride Wore Black" in 35mm and "Mississippi Mermaid." The films screen tonight through December 30. 7:30pm and 9:40pm. $8.
