A Canadian man died in a skydiving accident in Perris, CA yesterday afternoon.
Michael Ungar, 32, landed on the ground at about 2:02 p.m. and firefighters tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, reports NBC Los Angeles.
According to onlookers, Ungar was able to open his parachute as he headed towards the ground, but still came in at the wrong angle. The Press-Enterprise reports he might have been attempting a harder landing called "swooping," which involves skimming the ground after coming out of a high-speed dive.
Skydive Perris is the only skydiving resort in California, and Ungar is the fifth person to die this year at the facility.
