Mom and Two Children Hit by Tow Truck
A mother and two children were hit by a flatbed tow truck in an apparent hit-and-run in Placentia yesterday evening, reports City News Service. One of the children, a two-year-old girl, was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange to be treated for cuts and bruises to her feet, legs and face. The woman and the other child weren't treated for any injuries.
The three were crossing the street at Chapman Ave. and Placentia Ave. at about 6:45 p.m. when the accident occurred. The driver claims that he didn't see them because he had his eye on several approaching bicyclists.
Placentia police Sgt. Brian Yamaguchi added that the truck was so big that it may indeed have been hard for the driver to see the trio.
After failing to stop, the driver was followed by another car for almost four miles to the intersection of Imperial Highway and Kramer Blvd., at which time he pulled over.
The mom said that her wrist hurt following the accident, and the other child had an abrasion on one leg.
