Christmas Gifts Found After Stolen iPad Tracked to Thief's House
Here's a tip for future burglars: do not steal items equipped with tracking devices.
One Christmas thief found this out the hard way. Patrick Krewson is accused of robbing two homes, one on December 25 and another on December 22, after he was found with a stolen iPad that was tracked to his house, according to a statement released by the LA Sheriff's Department today.
Krewson allegedly took the device from a home in Westlake Village on December 25 at about 3:30 in the morning. He was confronted by the homeowner, but got away with a haul of Christmas gifts before the victim was able to catch him. The victim later realized that the iPad had been taken, and was able to find a signal from it in a nearby home.
Sheriffs then headed to Krewson's home, where they recovered the Apple device. In a follow-up investigation, they discovered that Krewson was also in possession of items that had been stolen from a home in Vista, CA on December 22. He was taken into custody and is being held on $50,000 bail.
And once again, Steve Jobs has saved Christmas.
