Woman Found Bludgeoned to Death in MacArthur Park Hotel Room

The body of a woman who had apparently been bludgeoned to death was discovered just after midnight today by a cleaning crew inside a rented room at the Olympic Hotel in the MacArthur Park area. The woman appears to be about 40 years old, reports City News Service.

The victim suffered "blunt force trauma to her face and head," according to Sgt. Joy Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man in whose name the room was registered is now considered a "person of interest" in the woman's death. That man reportedly checked out of the hotel room Sunday morning.

The LAPD are calling the woman's death a "probably homicide" and are looking for the man. As of early this morning, personnel from the coroner's office were still on scene at the hotel. The woman's name is being withheld pending notification of her relatives.
